For sure, getting old certainly IS a fact of life for many people…
Much more wisdom over 40…
They’re called the golden years for a reason.
I guess getting past 40 has its perks.
To start, you should be good at using what you’ve learned over the years.
Lots of trial and error in your younger days, leads to ‘Know-How’ and ‘Wisdom’ when you’re older.
And they’ve ever got a name for it…’crystallized intelligence’.
And thankfully, it keeps getting better, even past 65.
I know my Dad is still as sharp as a button, and he’s just turned 84.
He might not hear as well, as he once could…
But he’s definitely a wise old owl…
Should guys over 40 take it easy?
A common myth I hear all the time is that guys over 40 should take it easy and avoid exercise so they don’t get injured.
This is the WORST advice someone can give you after you reach 40.
As you age, don’t think exercise could do more harm than good, especially if you have a chronic condition.
Because the latest studies show that you have a lot more to gain by working out and keeping active…
Plus, you have a lot to lose by taking it easy and sitting too much.
Inactivity and being idle are more to blame than age when people get older.
Almost everyone, at any age and with most health conditions, can do some type of physical activity.
The fact is, physical activity will probably help manage many chronic conditions.
And, working out is not only great for your mental and physical health, but can help keep you independent as you age.
Bodyweight training and light dumbbell work have been shown to improve balance and stability in older adults and this can help maintain independence.
Plus, the improved strength in your muscles, joints, bones and tendons will improve your stability and prevent falls.
Do you feel you’ve been inactive for too long?
If you’re like most guys over 40, you’ve come to the conclusion you need to be more active…
The days of eating and drinking what you want are over.
Your metabolism is slowing down…
Your testosterone levels are dropping…
And your gut isn’t getting any smaller…
You know you need to ‘start exercising’…if you’ve never been one for working out.
Or you’ve got to ‘get back into training’…if it’s been a while.
This is totally normal, so don’t beat yourself up about it.
I applaud you for finding the GTW website, and TAKING ACTION.
Why is the ‘GTW Primer Level Program’ different?
The ‘GTW Primer Level Program’ is about you doing what you love to do when it comes to activity. This program is about choosing different ways to be physically active.
Liking what you’re doing for exercise is the key to longevity and long-term results.
Because if you truly like something, it will be very hard to stop doing it.
I always like going back to children when it comes to explaining exercise and being active.
Most of the children in this world have one thing in common; they like to play.
Playing is exercise. Kids run, jump, twist, climb and move their bodies with tremendous power, strength and agility.
As we age, we lose that ability. Not because we got older but because we stopped moving like that every day and this point is missed by many experts in the field of strength and health.
The ‘GTW Primer Level Program’ is about adding recess back into your life and having that time every day where you get to play in different ways.
In doing that, you will regain energy, muscle, mobility, confidence and your life will be forever changed.
Keep training hard (mentally & physically),
