Today’s post is all about so many guys becoming mentally weak wimps.
So, why have so many guys today become mentally weak wimps?
It didn’t use to be this way.
Men used to be real men.
And I’m not talking about men doing more housework and stuff like that.
There’s nothing wrong with chipping in with a bit of housework.
I mean men used to be able to keep their cool.
We were expected to remain composed in the face of adversity.
Our fathers and grandfathers were tough-minded because they lived tough lives.
They fought wars against enemies who threatened their very existence.
Life wasn’t easy back then. And it turned boys into men.
It’s not your fault.
Modern society has made us all soft.
Our mental strength isn’t tested and strengthened hour-by-hour, day-by-day as it used to be.
We don’t have to hunt for food… we just drive to a grocery store and grab what we want off the shelf.
Heck, even that routine won’t be with us much longer. All the shopping will be done with a few clicks or swipes on the smartphone.
We don’t have to fight for shelter… we live comfortably in our homes with our modern conveniences and TV.
We don’t have to keep our emotions under control…
We’re encouraged to ‘let it all out’ and express “what we really think”.
We live very comfortable lives.
But, here’s the problem.
When we’re called on to control our emotions during stressful situations – whether it’s job
related, in the gym, at home or even, God forbid, an actual physical confrontation – we’re vulnerable.
To use a military term, we’re no longer ‘combat effective’.
And it’s a problem…
… we’ve lost our edge.
Whether we know it or not, we’re paralyzed by fear that makes us ‘freeze’ when the chips are down.
How do we fight back and toughen up our minds? There are only two options:
1) Join the armed forces and gain the scars of a tough mind on the battlefield, or
As for me, I’ll go with option 2.
